M/J FRENCH, BEGINNING

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the French language and its culture and develop interactive communication skills and cross-cultural understanding. Content emphasis is on listening comprehension and speaking with special attention to pronunciation, basic structures, and everyday vocabulary. Students are introduced to reading and writing in the language and to basic cultural elements of the French-speaking world. This course is for students with no previous study and/or knowledge of French. (F01)

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the French language and its culture and to develop communicative skills and cross-cultural understanding. The content should include, but not be limited to, beginning skills in listening and speaking with special attention to pronunciation. An introduction to reading and writing should also be included, as well as the fundamentals of grammar and culture. (F03)

FRENCH 2

The purpose of this course is to reinforce the fundamental skills previously acquired by the student. This course further develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and cultural awareness. The content should include, but not be limited to, an expansion of the listening and oral skills previously acquired. Reading and writing should receive more emphasis, while oral communication and the enhancement of grammar skills remain the primary objectives. This course should include a cultural survey of the French-speaking people. This course is for students who have completed 070132001, or its equivalent. (F04)
