About Me

Bonjour mes amis!
I was born in Cuba. I attended primary and secondary schools in Havana and graduated with a Bachelor of French Education from the University of Havana where I worked for 10 years as a French and Spanish Teacher.
I migrated from Cuba to Miami, Florida with my husband and my daughter. I worked 3 years as a French and Spanish Teacher at Redland Middle School. While working at Redland Middle, I was requested to interview for a teacher position at Lamar Louise Curry Middle School to initiate the foreign languages department. This is how I became part of the Curry Cubs family. I started teaching Spanish and French, and slowly my French classes grew in numbers which is why I only teach French now. Additionally, during my time at Curry, I completed a Master’s Degree in Spanish from Salamanca University in Spain.

Working diligently with my Curry Middle School students has paid off. I am proud to say that we have accomplished second place in the world languages competition for the district in French for two consecutive years. My ultimate goal was to win first place; however, my students were competing with a bilingual school, George Washington Carver Middle School, which made the competition very challenging and, in my opinion, unfair due to the numerous years that Carver students are exposed to French in comparison to my students who welcome the language in their first year of middle school.

My goal is to awaken every student’s interest in learning a foreign language and to create a welcoming environment in my class, as well as to assist my students in becoming well prepared for their professional life in the future.

I thank you for selecting me as your teacher. For me it is a great honor and Bienvenue à la classe de français.
